Test-Specific Study Materials

The Testing Center has a variety of instructional and sample testing materials available for review and study. A staff member in the Testing Center will provide text-based study materials in exchange for your Linx card.  Computerized study materials are available on selected instructional computers; ask a Center for Academic Assistance communications or math staff member for assistance.  Resources may not be photocopied or removed from the Center.  Study materials are available for each of the tests listed below.  Click the name of the test to go directly to the relevant resources.

CLEP

The Official Study Guide for the CLEP Examinations (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001).  Available from Assessment Services staff for use in CLE. 

Georgia Legislative Requirement Examination

The Unfinished Nation ( 1993).  Text available from Library Circulation Desk, Reserve Shelf.

Government in America ( 1995). Text available from Library Circulation Desk, Reserve Shelf.

GRE

PowerPrep Software:  Preparing for the GRE General Test. (1996).  An interactive Windows-based program published by Educational Testing Service (ETS) which includes practice questions, tutorials, and timed practice tests.  Installed on Dell #1 in the Instructional Computer area of CTL.  See CLE staff member before using.  

NCLEX

Saunders Review for NCLEX-RN 2e (1994).  Interactive software published by W.B. Saunders.  Includes short review quiz and comprehensive practice test.  Installed on Dell #1 in the Instructional Computer area of CTL.  See CLE staff member before using.  

Sandra Smith's Review for NCLEX-RN (8th ed.).  Los Altos, CA: National Nursing Review.
A thorough review of the material most likely to be covered on the NCLEX exam.

Simulated NCLEX/CAT Test from Sandra Smith's Review for NCLEX-RN (1994).  Published by National Nursing Review, this DOS-based test includes 220 questions.  All questions must be answered before a performance summary is provided.  Installed on Dell #1 in the Instructional Computer area of CTL.  See CLE staff member before using.  

NCLEX-RN 101 (1994).  DOS-based interactive computer program offering tips for success and rationales for correct and incorrect answers. Installed on Dell #1 in the Instructional Computer area of CTL.  See CLE staff member before using.  

The Complete Q & A Book for the NCLEX/CAT-RN (1994).  Silver Spring, MD: MEDS, Inc.
The text contains ten tests of 100 questions each which simulate the kinds of questions found on the NCLEX/CAT-RN. Following each test is a section with complete rationales for all correct and incorrect answers.

One on One with the SAT.  (1995).  Windows-based program published by the College Board.  An interactive software program with introductory material on the SAT, a pretest, and question drills on analogies, sentence completion, critical reading, math strategies, arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.  Location: Dell #1 on Instructional Computer Network.  

TOEFL

Barron's TOEFL Preview.  Interactive software which includes an introduction to the test, reviews of listening comprehension, structure and written expression, and reading comprehension.  Also includes a sample test.  Located on Dell #1 in the Instructional Computer Network.

NTC's Practice Test Kit for the TOEFL, 2nd ed., (1997) by Milada Broukal and Enid Nolan-Woods.  Published by the National Textbook Company.  Three audiotapes and a workbook provide practice materials for listening comprehension, structure and written expression, reading comprehension, and essay questions.  

Regents/Prentice Hall TOEFL Prep Book, 2nd ed., (1992)by Lin Lougheed.  Published by Prentice Hall.  Print resource and four audiocassettes which include practice tests, listening targets, structure and written expression targets, vocabulary targets, reading targets, and essay targets.
