Based on faculty demand and a recommendation from the Faculty Development Coordinating Council, the Center for Instructional Development (CID) was established under the Vice President of Academic Affairs in August 1998. The goals of the Center are:

1. support faculty in the use of software and multimedia tools
2. enhance instruction through the development of online courses
3. build community among academic support units
4. explore new technologies for instruction
5. model pedagogical principles

The current initiatives of the Center include:

• Student Success Faculty Development Program - a five-year faculty development program focused on active pedagogies related to student engagement
  
• Course Enhancement Seminar Series - a web-enhanced seminar series based on AAHE's "Principles of Good Practice" and the "Seven Steps for Choosing Technology" developed by the Kaneb Center at the University of Notre Dame.
  

The Center also offers a variety of instructional services and provides access to "cutting edge" equipment and software.
