I developed this course to provide a means for students in Instructional Systems to learn how to consult with faculty and departments in higher education.

Course Description: Working as an instructional designer in a higher education setting can be different from working as a design in a corporate setting. This course is designed to give you practical advice concerning the application of the instructional design process in higher education. Through readings and class discussions, you will learn about the nuances associated with higher education and how they can impact the design and assessment process. During the course, you will be given the opportunity to not only to plan a course, but also to engage in the role of a consultant to one of your peers.

Academies Developed
Integrating Scholarship, Performance, and Research Experiences (InSPIRE) Academy

I designed and developed this program at Penn State. The academy consisted of a series of four workshops and working sessions designed to help faculty capitalize on their research strengths and help them integrate inquiry methods into their teaching. The primary goal of the program was to improve student learning and student motivation to learn by infusing the creation of knowledge, creative expression, and discovery into the undergraduate experience. During the Spring 2004, Fall 2004, Spring 2005, Fall 2005, and Fall 2006 semesters I facilitated the first two sessions: Designing for Inquiry and Creativity – An Introduction and Problem Development and Instructional Planning.
