Center for Instructional Development

The Center for Instructional Development (CID) provides training to full-time and part-time faculty, access to hardware and software resources useful in developing instructional materials, and support to individual faculty working on technology-intensive instructional projects. Specific services provided to faculty include workshops and online training, training on the use of computer-related hardware (e.g., scanners, ZIP drives, CD burners), and space, equipment, staff and software resources for faculty who wish to develop computerized or Web-oriented instructional materials of their own.

The CID offers a complete series of workshops on using WebCT, a user-friendly program that can be used to develop online courses or to supplement on-campus courses. Some of the most popular features include online gradebooks, threaded discussions, selected readings, self-administered quizzes, and online Powerpoint presentations.

The CID also offers assistance in using Word Comments, a program developed by Clayton State University faculty to facilitate the assessment of writing proficiency using the Clayton State University writing criteria. Word Comments allows faculty to choose items from a list of frequently used corrections and comments to insert directly into a student's paper.

The Center for Instructional Development is located on the ground floor of the University Center.  From the Campus side of the University Center, descend the first stairs on your left.  The lab is located in U143. For more information contact Martha Wicker, Director of the CID, via email or by calling (678) 466-4190. Or, visit the CID website for the latest schedule or to make an online request for an appointment.
