Regents' Test
Students should take the Regents' Test the first semester they attend any
state institution unless they are in Learning Support English or Reading.
The Regents' Test is designed to certify the
reading and writing competency of all students seeking an associate's or
bachelor's degree in the University System of
Georgia.
The exam has two sections: essay and reading.
Students are given 60 minutes to complete each section and are required to take both
sections at one sitting. The essay section requires the student to write a clear,
organized essay on one of four topics; the reading section requires the student to
demonstrate reading comprehension skills.
Students who have not satisfied the Regents' requirements by the time
they earn 45 credit hours and are in their 3rd semester at a state
school must take the Regents' Skills courses during each
subsequent semester of enrollment.
Regents' regulations will require
students to take the Regents' Skills Courses sooner effective Fall 2008.
Details will be posted to this website soon.
Some students may be eligible for extended time for the
exam due to a disability, international status or the third successful completion of a
skills class. Extended time must be pre-approved by the
deadlines below; special extended-time sections must be scheduled with
Disability Services or the
Testing Center after approval.
